Languishing 03:08
Languishing by Dave Kilbank Languishing… between good and bad. Languishing… not happy, not sad. So ask me how I am… and I’ll say: honestly man, I’m languishing… down this rabbit hole, Languishing… I need a small goal, If I can find the time… to start that project of mine, No more languishing… Ahh-ah. I’ll be wishing… Ahh-ah. Ohh-ya. Ohh-ya. Ooo Ooo Ooo Ooo. Ooo Ooo Ooo Ooo. I can hardly wait… but I procrastinate, I’m languishing… between up and down. Languishing… no smile, no frown. If I can find the flow… just focus, and let myself go, No more languishing… Ahh-ah. I’ll be wishing… Ahh-ah. Ohh-ya. Ohh-ya Ooooooo...

The Last Days of Winter words and music by Paul Bezooyen & Dave Kilbank When the sun rises higher, sleeping branches awake, melting snow feeds the river. When the soil gets warmer, dormant seeds will awake. These are the last days of winter. These are the last days of winter. I know you’re impatiently waiting for change, but it’s still too early for planting. Give it time, this dark season will pass. Before long your seeds will be sprouting. When hope rises higher, sleeping minds will awake, melting fear feeds spring fever. When the heart gets warmer, dormant feelings awake. These are the last days of winter These are the last days of winter. I know you’re impatiently waiting for change, but it’s still too early for planting. Give it time, this dark season will pass. Before long your seeds will be sprouting.

Morning Stay Away By Bob Enns Summer winds are blowing strong By morning I'll be gone We try our best to hide the tears We only have till Dawn Because the winds are blowing The sky is glowing And wildfires take me away Chorus But I won't close my eyes. No I won't close my eyes. Won't take them from you until I'm gone. So please —--- –Morning stay away. Don't bring on the day. Cuz come the dawn I'll be on my way All night long I hold you close. Tonight we won't let go We let our love rise above. The pain of letting go. And every night when you see the light From the Northern Star. Imagine it's my eyes Reflecting from the skies And you can see me watching over you Chorus So please—--- morning stay away Don't bring on the day I'll be gone but not for long When those rains start coming down I'll be coming home to stay. So please—-- morning stay away Don't bring on the day Morning stay away

The Test Of Time by Dave Kilbank Find yourself a soft spot on this rock of a hard place, Somewhere to catch your breath so you can run the human race. Win or lose you can choose… Make yourself at home, relax, put on a happy face, The chaos finds some order in this open timeless space. Entropy reversing… I offer you this sanctuary, Where you can change the paradigm. Make every day extraordinary, Our friendship stands the test of time… Find yourself some answers to life’s questionable things, A sounding board for off-key chords when everybody sings. Noise can be harmony… I offer you this sanctuary, Where you can change the paradigm. Make every day extraordinary, Our friendship stands the test of time…

Heart’s Beating Faster Words and Music: Paul Bezooyen ( except bridge: Words by Wayne Dyer ) Feels good to walk in these dark misty mountains. Need to clear my cluttered brain. I can smell fallen trees, last year’s leaves New life wet with morning rain. Sleepy old owl scowling down at me, saying “Hey boy, what do you see. in this place of ten thousand things.” Amazing just how small I can feel My heart’s beating faster ‘cause I’m climbing high Saying no to deadlines and false ideals contrived I’m breathing harder and it clears the haze I’m getting tired, but that’s good in so many ways I’m blind as a tree roots finger the earth Grabbing at anything to anchor me down All the while branches grow out. New leaves unfurl With the new life they have found (Bridge) Wisdom is knowing we’re nothing Love is knowing we’re everything And in between our lives move So stay as close to love as you can. Sky full of stars. Some flash in the black, as they fall from grace in the clear night air. And all of these stars seem quite amused By all the drama we try to bear. My heart’s beating faster looking through the smoke, from a crackling fire, at friends telling really bad jokes I’m gonna breath deeply, when I smell her skin Friends and a true love help make sense of it all Friends and a true love help make sense of it all

Fandango 04:00
Fandango. by. Bob Enns I remember when I walked into that room and I saw you looking back at me Crowded little coffee place But I could only see one face. You smiled at me. And you oo oo never knew what was going on inside of me I tried to hide but I was starting to slide into love with you at the very first sight Coffee turned to dinner and supper seemed so right We danced a slow fandango. As love began on our very first night We really found a way you know To give our hearts away and so here we are We never knew the day would come that we could ever love someone the way we do But Love took over you and me that magic night those years ago It cam to us so naturally, the day we fell in love at first sight. We will remember that beautiful night When we found each other We always know, we always knew it was right

Bodies Of Water by Dave Kilbank & Paul Bezooyen We are bodies of water - we’re blood, sweat, and tears, We swim in life’s ocean, and drift through our years. We are ruled by the moon, riding tides that ebb and flow, We learn to tread water, or drown in the undertow… It’s a body of water - it’s oceans and lakes, It’s rivers of plenty from ice and snowflakes. It’s our history’s gift to the future that we owe, The endless water cycle on Planet H2O… The web of life is fed… by clouds that rain on local watersheds… Draining down to the sea… Evaporating, circulating, free… We are bodies of water - we’re all in this boat, We must find our balance, or we’ll sink, not float. We are crashing like waves, facing rain that cold winds blow, But we’ll find safe harbour if we sit down and row…

_Come Back Home_ By Bob Enns __________________________________________ Give me any reason To come back home Out on the road I’m so alone Just give me one reason and I’ll break this chain. And be back in your arms again.... Back in your arms again. I want to be the reason you come back home You know that I miss you and I’m so alone I’m waiting here for you and I want to be Back in your arms again. Back in your arms again Chorus Back in your arms again Back in your arms Too long on this road again I want to be back in your arms Bridge: The road that takes you far away.... Brings you back another day We both have to find the way... To come back home... To come back home. Passed a sign .Welcome to Alone Living our lives on a cellphone Do you get the feeling the time has come To turn around and come back home Chorus Back in your arms again Back in your arms Too long on this road again I want to be back in your arms

The Hermits Blues by Dave Kilbank I’ve been a Hermit since my teenager days, I’m sorta stuck in my ways (it’s a craze). My friends are Hermits too, we’re all in a daze, Self-imposed lockdown in a haze (out of phase). We write our songs alone, we only come out to play, And we can jam on-line, share music with no talk of pay. We mix and master, then we do it again. The Hermits Blues and Folk and Jazz keeps us sane… We are all Hermits when we look deep inside, But we all let it slide (fortified). If we’re alone too long it lights the dark side, It looks like Jekyll and Hyde (you can’t hide). And so we might as well strap in for the ride, Embrace technology without getting fried. Then we can launch into the star-studded sky, The Hermits Blues and Folk and Jazz gets us high…

Way Down in the Alley words and music by Paul Bezooyen There was a cool cat, wrote really good poetry With rhythm and rhyme and fine symmetry The words got him humming. The humming got him singing And way down in the alley at night Down in the dark alley at night Way down in the alley at night You could hear that cat a’ swinging. Old Dog could hear him. Said “I wanna jam to that.” The Cat said “ That’s cool, jammin’s where it’s at.” The dog conjured up some rhythm and blues And way down in the alley at night Down in the dark alley at night Way down in the alley at night they were howling at the moon. They sang Ooo Ooo Ooo Whatcha gonna do ? Hey Hey Hey We’re just singing our blues away. Racoon was listening from behind the garden gate Wanted to join in so he went and tempted fate. Sang a third harmony was better with three And way down in the alley at night Down in the dark alley at night. Way down in the alley at night The mice and crows and the rabbits and the toads the owl and the hobo out on the road were swinging....and singing swinging and singing too. They sang Ooo Ooo Ooo Whatcha gonna do ? Hey Hey Hey We’re just singing our blues away. They sang Ooo Ooo Ooo Whatcha gonna do ? Hey Hey Hey We’re just singing our blues away.

Big Brains 03:53
Big Brains by Dave Kilbank The brain is a great big place, Much bigger than outer space. But sometimes in my thoughts, I find, That I’ve really got a very small mind. Great big brains always play small mind games. The more I learn, the less I know, The less I think, the more I go, To extremes in my dreams, But it seems reality screams at me. The brain is a crazy place, Unhindered by time or space. But somehow I can see sanity, If it’s not obscured by my vanity. Great big brains elevate small complaints. The more I get, the less I show, The less I say, the more I go, To extremes in my dreams… But it seems reality screams at me. The brain is a scary place, Hides things that I have to face. But something deep inside me gets out, So that I can overcome all my doubt. Great big brains feeling small growing pains. The more I fail, the less I grow, The less I try, the more I go, To extremes in my dreams, But it seems reality screams at me.

All of Us 02:58
All of Us. by Bob Enns Time is the sand that is slipping through your hand Or wind that is flowing through the leaves on the trees Resistant to slowing . Persistently flowing Like so many rivers to the sea Carrying you...and me for...ever, gently ahead The past is just slipping away Bridge We tie a tether to forever. We go on and on The heavens know where you go. We never know...We never know Believing it all. You say what you say and you know, you know that it's always been this way All of us are drifting in this space we call time Uncertain of the reason, unknowing of the rhyme Evolving, revolving with untethered ends We find resolving in family and friends For ever and ever, Gently ahead as our past is slipping away

about

This album epitomizes the ideals at The Hermit’s Music record label: Collaboration produces work that exceeds the abilities of an individual effort.

Dave Kilbank, Bob Enns and Paul Bezooyen have very diverse approaches to writing and producing songs. Their respective styles are exemplified by their solo projects published by The Hermit’s Music label. This new collaborative album challenged each of them to be open to letting someone else get their fingerprints all over their songs. The process was not easy or without creative differences however, this was overshadowed by the many exciting, creative breakthroughs resulting in an album each is very proud of.

The album took over 2 years to produce. The process was hampered by the pandemic which caused each to work separately from their respective home studios.

The trio also challenged themselves to do all the instrumentation. This kicked them out of comfort zones, forcing them to enhance their skills on other instruments. They also had a unanimous desire to make strong, 3 part vocal harmonies a distinguishing element of the album. Again, this key objective allowed for growth beyond the boundaries of their existing skills.
